Our Story

Founded in 2024, DeutschTek Automotive was created to offer an alternative to the big-name dealerships servicing Audi, Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Porsche, Skoda, and New Mini across South East Melbourne and West Gippsland.

Frustrated by the industry’s lack of genuine, old-fashioned customer service and reliable workmanship, Rod, our founder, set out to create a workshop where honesty, trust, and quality come first.

Rod’s Journey

Rod began his career as an apprentice mechanic in 2007, working with an independent VW specialist. That early exposure to German design and engineering excellence sparked a lifelong passion.

After completing his apprenticeship, Rod spent years at various dealerships, only to be disillusioned by:

Pushy sales tactics
Poor issue resolution
Broken promises to customers

In 2017, Rod became Store Manager at a major automotive chain in one of Melbourne’s most affluent suburbs. The area was packed with German luxury cars, and Rod saw a clear path to specialise in these prestigious European brands.

At the dealership, Rod stood out for his management style and dedication to customers. He quickly built a loyal base by simply doing what others wouldn’t, listening and delivering honest service.

Despite generating strong profits, corporation insisted on pushing aggressive sales tactics. Rod refused to compromise his values.

Building DeutschTek

In 2019, Rod opened his first automotive shop, focusing on European vehicles. It quickly found success, but space, resources, and the looming COVID-19 pandemic halted its full potential.

Rod made the tough call to sell the business.

After relocating to the South-Eastern Suburbs of Melbourne, he began planning a new kind of workshop. In 2024, that vision became reality with the launch of DeutschTek Automotive.
