We want to avoid leaving you to worry if you’re even going to make it to work during this time, so we try to always leave time for walk-ins, and will always try to fit you in for at least a diagnosis, you can call on us, or visit us during business hours. Diesel Specialist, DPF Specialist Mechanic in Pakenham:

If you are looking for a Diesel Mechanic, to work on your modern common-rail diesel Car, Van or Ute, DeutschTek Automotive has a highly skilled mechanic for all your Diesel issues and maintenance. We specialise in Common-Rail Diesel Injector seat cutting and injector replacement, DPF cleaning and replacement, Diagnostics, Timing Chain Replacement and Timing Belt Replacement, Turbo and Boost issues, as well as regular maintenance procedures. Our comprehensive services, are more thorough than regular oil changes, and we interrogate your Diesel engine control module and injection control module to determine the state of your DPF, Turbo, Timing chain or timing belt, etc in every service, saving the customer money in the long run. We understand that YOUR time is money too, and we want to ensure you don’t have any issues between now and next service. We strongly suggest, and try to steer you away from the manufacturers’ recommendation of 12 months and 15,000km (some are more) between services. While this is ok for a relatively new vehicle, as the engine ages we see significant savings for the customer and longer life of vehicles that are serviced every 6 months or no greater than 10,000km. If you would like to speak to us, or have any questions about Diesels, about shorter service intervals, or for any other advice or bookings call and speak to us on 9969 8800.

At DeutschTek Automotive, we can conduct routine servicing and maintenance on your German vehicle equipped with DSG, CVT, S-Tronic, ZF (BMW), MB - 722.6, 722.9 and 725 (9 -Speed Mercedes-Benz) We will always recommend servicing your automatic or dual clutch transmission on time, or for vehicles not specified for a service interval, no more than 100,000km.

What does “Serviced for life” mean? Some manufacturers state that their transmission is “serviced for life” or “filled for life” – implying that the transmission oil doesn’t ever need to be changed. What you have to keep in mind, is the fine print that also says the “life of the car” is 100,000km and after this age, the manufacturer doesn’t want to know about your transmission problems, and will want to sell you a complete new transmission, which might cost as much if not more than the car is worth. At DeutschTek Automotive, we try to be realistic when it comes to servicing, and servicing your transmission is absolutely necessary for trouble free motoring especially if you want to enjoy your German car as long as possible. We live in a world that is quite wasteful, and the idea of “throwing it out and buying a new one” is more beneficial to the manufacturers, but is very wasteful. We know that in reality your German car can be enjoyed for years if looked after properly.

-We can conduct Servicing and minor repairs in-house at DeutschTek Automotive, for more complex repairs, we outsource to a transmission shop but we can still arrange this all for you if required.

We all have heard of timing belts – it’s that elastic band thingy in your engine that costs $$$ right? Well yes, but moreover the timing belt is a very important maintenance item, that while it sounds expensive to replace, the purpose of it is to prevent even more costly damage to your engine if it fails. The timing belt should be replaced with the water pump if driven by it, and the idlers and tensioning pulley. Because if any of these fail and they are known for it, again the idea is preventative maintenance. Because you can’t see if the internal webbing inside the rubber belt which gives the belt its strength to hand the enormous load of the camshafts spinning at speed, it is imperative to replace it at the required interval i.e. for all Volkswagen’s fitted with a Timing belt, it is every 105,000km or 7 years, whichever comes first.

Unscheduled timing belt maintenance: Sometimes but less commonly, a fault can lead to reduced life of the timing belt, these include: Oil leaking from the balancer or camshaft oil seal, water pump leaking or bearing failure, Add-Blue leaking – (an issue on the newer EA288 engine) or Drive-belt failure (an issue on the 2.0TDI Amarok) or Cam gear failure (1.4TSI) For peace of mind, we check all of these things while conducting services to your German Vehicle.

Some cars don’t have a timing belt, but instead have a chain. While in theory a chain requires less maintenance, we still see failures, some models more so than others. The models that are particularly troublesome are BMW with N47/57 Engines, Mercedes-Benz C200 Kompressor and C250 CGI Turbo found in W203/204 models, and the FSI and TFSI engines by VW group. We try to prevent timing chain replacement as this is very costly, in order for you to get the most out of your timing chain driven engine, so we pay particular attention to these models and have a method for measuring chain wear and tear. While we can’t for-see future failures, we can look at existing wear (on some models) and use our best judgement to advise you on the condition of your timing chain.
